Our History
Formed as Angus & Perthshire Bearings & Transmissions in the autumn of 1997, the brainchild of our retired former owner Colin Robb, the company has grown to a multi company group over the years, under his tutelage, and that of his son Steve.
From inauspicious beginnings, trading from his garage at home, the company grew and expanded in its first base in Scone. Initially very much a power transmission parts supplier, the agricultural location that had so attracted Colin over the years, dictated the how the business could grow and succeed.
Becoming a limited company in 2003 we rebranded as A & P Bearings Ltd, and continued to grow as a stockist and supplier both to the agricultural and Industrial community. The breadth of range for which we have become so synonymous had started to take shape, and our reputation was growing.
Steve, who had aided Colin in the very beginning of the venture, returned in 2006 as his father sought to reduce his day to day involvement, though he would have to wait a futher 7 years to realise that pipe dream!
In 2008 the move was made to expand the operation by opening new site in Forfar. Steve went to oversee the setup and establishment of the new company AP Bearings & Agric. (Forfar) Ltd before handing over the reins to our first depot manager in 2009.
The new project expanded the area we covered and fitted into our criteria of keeping the solutions needed by our customer base local to them to minimise expensive downtime.
In 2010, we saw the opportunity to expand the business again and also safeguard future operations by establishing a third site in central Perth, now our head office. The move saw Steve relocate to Perth to again begin the process of establishing the new company.
2013 saw Colin achieved his well deserved goal of retiral and also saw us mothball A & P Bearings Ltd and with much sadness close our initial site transferring all stocks to the other two companies.
Over the intervening years we continued to expand our product offering, always seeking to be a one stop shop for our valued customers.
Most recently in November of 2020 we opened our newest business, Fyrish Bearings & Agricultural Supplies Ltd based in Alness, in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland.
The goal of our newest site being what our main aim has always been, to Keep YOUR solutions local.
As we move forward into the world of e commerce that core value still remains, to offer stock and service to a national market, whilst keeping that local touch.
